Three Uttar Pradesh Police constables have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the robbery of ₹2.49 million (₹24.90 lakh) in Jhansi. The accused policemen have also been suspended following their arrest as the investigation into the case continues.

 

Allegedly Abducted Dry Fruit Trader's Accountant

According to police, the three constables were on leave from the Orai Police Lines when the incident took place. Investigators allege that they were wearing police uniforms when they abducted the accountant of a dry fruit trader, forced him into a car, assaulted him, and allegedly robbed him of a bag containing ₹24.90 lakh in cash.

Vehicle Number Led Investigators to the Accused

Police said the breakthrough came after investigators traced the vehicl used in the crime through its registration number. The probe reportedly led authorities to the three constables, who were subsequently taken into custody.

Departmental Action Initiated

Following their arrest, the three policemen were suspended from service. Authorities have launched both a criminal investigation and departmental proceedings to examine the allegations and determine the full sequence of events.
