A power outage struck the NEET PG 2026 examination at an exam centre in Rajasthan’s Jaipur on Sunday, while it advanced smoothly at other centres across India. Nearly 300 candidates taking the exam at the Jaipur centre were affected due to the power failure, and the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has announced a rescheduled examination for the sufferers.
According to sources privy to the NBEMS, the affected candidates were allotted to the iON Digital Zone Sitapura 2 centre, whose exam will now be conducted on September 5, 2026. The sources added that further details regarding the rescheduled test shall be communicated separately to the candidates concerned.

2.73L candidates take NEET PG 2026 exam
Meanwhile, the pan-India medical entrance exam for admission to post-graduate courses in medical disciplines progressed smoothly at other exam centres, and more than 2.73 lakh candidates took the test at designated exam centres across India. Conducted by the NBEMS, the exam was held in computer-based mode in a single shift from 9 am to 12:30 pm. Speaking before the commencement of the exam in Agra, a candidate named Chayaa said she was feeling nervous ahead of the test.
She said, “I’m feeling a bit nervous about it now, but let’s see how it goes.”
NEET UG 2026 exam cancellation casts long shadow
The NEET PG exam was conducted months after the NEET UG 2026 exam, which was organised by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on May 3 in the pen-and-paper mode. The UG exam had to be cancelled after the question paper was leaked, and the NTA announced a fresh examination for the affected candidates. The re-test was held on June 21 this year.
As many as 22.79 lakh candidates had registered for NEET UG 2026, which was conducted across India and overseas.

Against this backdrop, the rescheduling of the NEET PG exam at the Jaipur centre following the reported power outage has once again brought the exam arrangements and contingency measures into the spotlight.
For the 300 affected candidates at iON Digital Zone Sitapura 2, the examination will now unfold on September 5, with NBEMS expected to provide further instructions and details separately.
