Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav on Tuesday sought to deepen economic ties with Sharjah and attract major investments into the state, inviting the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry to participate in the Global Investors Summit (GIS) 2027.
CM Dr Yadav held a meeting with Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Expo Centre Sharjah, during the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM Congress-2026) in the United Arab Emirates.

The discussions centred on strengthening bilateral trade relations between Madhya Pradesh and Sharjah and exploring investment opportunities across several key sectors.
Business delegation, B2B forum on the cards
CM Dr Yadav stressed the need for a structured and strategic economic partnership between Madhya Pradesh and the Sharjah Chamber. He urged Al Owais to lead a high-level business delegation to the state to explore potential investment and commercial opportunities.
The chief minister also proposed a Madhya Pradesh-Sharjah Business Forum, which would facilitate sector-specific business-to-business (B2B) meetings between entrepreneurs from the two regions.
He sought the chamber’s support in connecting Madhya Pradesh’s micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and exporters with major buyers and distributors in Gulf countries.
A still from the meeting
Sharjah-based companies were invited to explore investment opportunities in Madhya Pradesh’s food parks, cold-chain infrastructure, logistics, textiles, pharmaceuticals, renewable energy and tourism projects.
MP highlights investor-friendly ecosystem
CM Dr Yadav said Madhya Pradesh was emerging as a major investment destination, citing its strategic central location, competitive costs, extensive industrial land bank, world-class infrastructure and strong connectivity with major markets across India.
He said the state government was offering investors comprehensive support through transparent policies, a swift single-window system and an industry-friendly business environment.
According to CM Dr Yadav, Sharjah’s extensive business network and connectivity could help Madhya Pradesh expand exports, enhance skills, generate employment and facilitate technology transfer.
Strong Sharjah-India economic links
Sharjah’s economic ties with India are supported by the broader India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
The Sharjah Chamber has organised trade missions and business forums in India, including Mumbai, covering sectors such as manufacturing, textiles, jewellery, SMEs, technology, energy, logistics, food industries, tourism and real estate.
Al Owais has served as chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Expo Centre Sharjah since May 2014. He is also vice-chairman of the UAE Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry and has extensive leadership experience across government, industry, banking, food production, education, agriculture and bilateral business organisations.

During his interaction with Al Owais, CM Dr Yadav also sought to learn about Sharjah’s development journey.
Al Owais briefed the chief minister on the emirate’s transformation through an exhibition at the exhibition hall of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The display traced Sharjah’s gradual development from 1974 to the present, offering an overview of the emirate’s economic and infrastructural growth over the decades.
