Madhya Pradesh is seeking to deepen its global investment partnerships through concrete projects, with Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav inviting seven countries to participate as ‘Partner Countries’ at the Global Investors Summit (GIS-2027), scheduled to be held in Bhopal in January 2027.
CM Dr Yadav extended the invitation during a roundtable meeting with Consuls General and diplomatic representatives of Japan, Mexico, Russia, the Republic of Korea, Thailand, the Arab Republic of Egypt and South Africa at The St Regis hotel in Mumbai.
The Chief Minister said the success of the summit would ultimately be measured by the implementation of investment proposals on the ground, rather than merely by the announcements made during the event.

‘What is discussed at the table reaches the ground’
CM Dr Yadav said Madhya Pradesh wanted to take its investment and trade partnerships with different countries forward through tangible projects. He assured the diplomatic representatives that their suggestions would be taken up in Bhopal.
“Your views will go with me to Bhopal,” CM Dr Yadav said, while highlighting the state’s approach towards international collaboration.
He said GIS-2027 would be the ninth edition of the summit and that he would personally meet delegations from countries joining as Partner Countries. The delegations would also be hosted for a dinner and introduced to Madhya Pradesh’s industrial and cultural strengths, ranging from the industrial opportunities in Pithampur to the heritage of Sanchi.
According to CM Dr Yadav, more than ₹8.5 lakh crore in investments has already reached the implementation stage in Madhya Pradesh since the 2025 Global Investors Summit. He said the state would similarly focus on ensuring that commitments made during GIS-2027 translate into projects on the ground.
Pithampur emerges as a key investment destination
CM Dr Yadav cited several recent investment decisions to underline the state’s efforts to convert discussions into projects.

He referred to British company Haleon’s decision in June to establish a manufacturing facility at Pithampur with an investment of around ₹2,000 crore. More than 40 acres of land has been identified for the project, and the company’s global chief executive officer had visited Madhya Pradesh, he said.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the decision by Japan’s more than century-old Toppan Group to establish a new unit at Pithampur. The project involves an investment of approximately ₹950 crore, with the entire investment coming from abroad.
He further said Korea-based ECDS has proposed an investment of around ₹780 crore to establish its first unit in India at Ujjain, where cancer diagnostic kits will be manufactured.
“Madhya Pradesh is a place where what is discussed at the table reaches the ground,” CM Dr Yadav said.
Diplomatic representatives welcome investment opportunities
The representatives of the seven countries responded positively to Madhya Pradesh’s investment potential and discussed opportunities for expanding economic, trade and industrial cooperation.
Japan’s Consul General Hitomi Sato appreciated the state’s industrial capacity and investment opportunities. Mexico’s Consul General Adolfo Garcia Estrada described the prospects for trade and investment as encouraging.
Russia’s Consul General Ivan Y Fetisov discussed potential cooperation in agriculture, food processing and energy, while Republic of Korea Consul General Dongwan Yoo explored investment and trade opportunities.
Thailand’s Consul General Siriporn Supanimetvisetkul, Egypt’s Consul General Dalia Tawkol and South Africa’s Consul General Jedon Lebane also discussed opportunities for strengthening investment and commercial ties with Madhya Pradesh.
Invitation to connect bilateral chambers

CM Dr Yadav urged the diplomatic representatives to convey to their respective capitals that Madhya Pradesh wants their countries to join GIS-2027 as Partner Countries.
He also encouraged bilateral chambers of commerce from these countries to connect with Madhya Pradesh and consider holding their annual general meetings in Bhopal. The Chief Minister said several chambers had already agreed to the proposal and that the state’s team was in contact with them.
He invited the representatives to visit Madhya Pradesh, describing the state as “the heart of India” and saying that its ethos was to bring people together.
CM Dr Yadav also invited them to the Simhastha festival, which will be held in Ujjain in 2028 and is expected to attract millions of devotees. He said the event would offer an opportunity to experience India’s cultural and spiritual heritage alongside exploring business partnerships.
The roundtable concluded with discussions on the possible participation of the seven countries as Partner Countries at GIS-2027 and avenues for strengthening long-term cooperation with Madhya Pradesh.
