Spine-chilling details have surfaced on Monday in the autopsy report of the 12-year-old girl, who was allegedly gang-raped and was murdered in West Bengal’s Baruipur area on Sunday, the police said. The post-mortem report revealed horrific details, mentioning that the girl suffered a head injury and was alive when she was thrown into the pond after the brutal sexual assault.

The report underlined that the girl had injuries to her private parts, along with bite marks and scratches all over her body. Notably, the girl went missing on Saturday after she left her home in South 24 Parganas’ Baruipur to buy a birthday gift for a friend of hers. Her family later lodged a missing person complaint with the police, and she was later found dead in a pond on Sunday.

Autopsy report reveals girl was attacked on head

A senior police official aware of the development said on Monday that as per preliminary findings which surfaced in the autopsy report, injury marks were also found on the girl’s private parts, besides scratch and bite marks on various parts of her body. 

Moreover, it also indicated that the girl’s head had either been struck with a heavy object or had been banged against a hard surface, in a bid to kill her. The report suggested that she was alive when she was thrown into a pond, and water was found in her lungs as well as the stomach during post-mortem examination. 

Heavy bleeding, drowning leads to death: Report

Furthermore, the autopsy report underscored that owing to the heavy bleeding caused due to the head injury and drowning led to her death. Police further claimed they had arrested the key accused in connection with the incident on Monday, taking the total arrest toll to three. 

Another senior cop said, “The probe has reached a crucial stage. We are examining all evidence. The preliminary autopsy report’s findings are being corroborated with other material collected during the course of the investigation.” 

CCTV footage shows girl being taken away by four people

The cops said they had scanned the CCTV footage from the area, in which four people were spotted whisking away the girl, adding that they were analysing the footage to establish the identities of the accused, as well as their role in the crime. The officer further said, “We are pursuing all available leads. CCTV footage, forensic evidence and witness statements are being examined. All those involved shall be identified and arrested at the earliest.”

CM speaks to victim’s father

Notably, West Bengal Chief Minister (CM) Suvendu Adhikari spoke to the father of the victim girl over the phone, assuring him that the culprits would be brought to justice by means of the strictest punishment permissible under the law, sources said. Urging the protestors to lift the road blockade, Baruipur IGP announced that every accused linked to the crime would be arrested and would receive maximum punishment after trial.
