MP news: Six trainee cops filmed and shared a reel on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) while being dressed in full police uniform at the Police Training School (PTS) in MP’s Rewa on February 25, 2026. However, what appeared as a light-hearted social media update quickly snowballed into a major controversy, prompting action against the trainee cops from the senior officials of the MP Police Department.

Viral video invites trouble

According to police officials, the trainee cops identified as Anil from Dewas, Anand from Indore, Pradeep Yadav, Rajkumar and Gonu from Ujjain and Surjeet from Vidisha filmed themselves at the PTS in Rewa on February 25, 2026. While shooting the reel, they were dressed in police uniform, and captioned the post, “So what if I don’t look good? At least I have a government job. So what if I don’t have money? I get a monthly salary. So what if I don’t have clothes? At least I have a uniform.”

The reel was uploaded via a social media group on ‘X’, titled Matiyamet Group, which went viral within a few hours and garnered close to 5,000 views.

Directives issued from PHQ to refrain from social media posting while on duty

Notably, the act by the trainee cops comes months after the Madhya Pradesh Police Headquarters (PHQ) in Bhopal had issued strict directives to all the police personnel across the state, ordering them to refrain from posting any content on social media while being on duty and in police uniform. Moreover, the training instructors at the PTS claimed they had reiterated these instructions on multiple occasions.

Department seeks explanation from trainee cops

Taking cognisance of the incident, the Superintendent of Police (PTS, Rewa), Surendra Kumar Jain has issued show-cause notices to all the six trainee cops seen in the reel. SP Jain said that the dignity of the police department has been tarnished due to the act, and has sought written explanation from all six of them. Officials aware of the development said that in case the responses provided by the trainees are deemed unsatisfactory, they will be liable to strict disciplinary action.

Not the first incident in Rewa

It is noteworthy that this is not the first such incident in Rewa. Earlier too, a reel uploaded by several police personnel had prompted an official inquiry.
