Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav on Friday inaugurated the roll-out of a power transformer from CG Power and Industrial Solutions’ new manufacturing facility in Sehore district, describing the development as a major step towards strengthening the state’s industrial ecosystem.

Speaking at the inauguration, CM Dr Yadav said the state government was committed to promoting industrial development and attracting investment, as fresh investments would create employment opportunities for local youth. He assured investors, both large and small, of full government support.

The Chief Minister noted that a factory for cable manufacturing, involving an investment of ₹106 crore, had received its foundation stone just two days earlier. On the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami, the ₹888-crore power transformer manufacturing facility of CG Power and Industrial Solutions was formally inaugurated, he said.

‘Sehore is secure for investment, returns assured’

CM Dr Yadav said several major industrial projects had been inaugurated or had their foundation stones laid in Madhya Pradesh over the past eight months, including units of companies such as Godrej.

He said Godrej Industries had also launched its fourth soap manufacturing unit in the Gwalior-Chambal region, described as the company’s largest such facility in Asia.

According to CM Dr Yadav, the state’s investor-friendly policies were encouraging healthy competition among major companies to establish manufacturing units in Madhya Pradesh. He stressed that such factories did more than manufacture products, contributing to economic prosperity, tax collection and employment generation.

Describing Sehore as “secure for investment” with “assured returns”, CM Dr Yadav said the district was witnessing rapid growth in tourism and had become part of the Bhopal metropolitan city region.

He said the new facility would play an important role in transforming India’s electrical ecosystem. The Chief Minister highlighted Madhya Pradesh’s growth through what he termed five key pillars; passion, potential, policy, performance and production.

World’s largest transformer unit begins production in 13 months

CM Dr Yadav said CG Power and Industrial Solutions had reached a new milestone in Madhya Pradesh after nine decades of operations. The foundation stone for the Sehore facility was laid in August last year, and the plant became operational in a record 13 months, he said.

The facility is expected to manufacture 365 transformers annually and provide employment to around 2,000 people.

CG Power and Industrial Solutions CEO Amar Kaul said the Sehore unit represented a significant milestone for the company. He said around 2,000 people had secured employment at the facility, which would manufacture approximately 35 transformers every month.

Kaul said the transformers would be as large as a three-storey bungalow and would be produced using modern machinery. The facility also houses what was described as the world’s largest transformer testing laboratory.

Around 36% of the electricity required by the unit will be sourced from solar energy, Kaul said, adding that the facility had been made production-ready in just 13 months with support from the state government.

‘India moving ahead at rapid pace’

CM Dr Yadav said India’s economy was growing rapidly under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and Madhya Pradesh was progressing alongside the country.

MP CM Dr Yadav addressing the event

Citing recent economic figures, he said India’s growth rate stood at 7.8%, compared with 2% for the US and 4% for China. He added that India would not compromise on national interests in trade negotiations with the US.

CM Dr Yadav said the state government was committed to transforming Madhya Pradesh into a stronger industrial and employment hub, while Kaul reaffirmed CG Power’s commitment to contributing to the development of a developed India and a prosperous Madhya Pradesh.
