The Welspun Group is exploring investment opportunities in Madhya Pradesh’s technical textile and infrastructure sectors, with plans to assess the potential for setting up a technical textile park in the state.

The development came up during a meeting between Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav and Welspun Enterprises Limited Managing Director Sandeep Garg at a ‘Dialogue on Investment Opportunities in Madhya Pradesh’ programme held at The St Regis hotel in Mumbai.

The Welspun Group expressed interest in investing in the development of a technical textile park on mill land. The group also indicated its willingness to establish an anchor unit at the proposed park.

As a next step, Welspun will send a team to inspect the proposed site and assess its suitability for the project. The proposed investment could strengthen Madhya Pradesh’s position as a destination for textile and industrial projects.

₹150 crore MS line pipe investment discussed

The meeting also covered a proposed investment of ₹150 crore by Welspun Corp in the MS line pipe segment. The Chief Minister and Garg discussed the company’s existing activities and future investment plans in pipe manufacturing in Madhya Pradesh.

The discussions assume significance as the state seeks to attract fresh industrial investment across manufacturing and infrastructure sectors.

Infrastructure emerged as another key area of discussion. Welspun Enterprises is expected to explore opportunities to participate in road and highway construction projects, besides other infrastructure initiatives in the state.

The meeting also considered the group’s potential involvement in water and wastewater management projects. Such participation could add to Welspun’s existing infrastructure portfolio while supporting the state’s development requirements.
