Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav on Sunday reiterated his government’s commitment to the all-round development of farmers, addressing the Balram Krishi Mahotsav and district-level farmers’ fair in Dewas through video conferencing. The event, held at the Agricultural Produce Market Committee premises, showcased modern farming technologies, natural agriculture practices and innovative approaches to improving farmers’ incomes.

A major highlight of the programme was the felicitation of 11 progressive farmers for their outstanding contributions to agriculture, animal husbandry, natural farming and agricultural innovation. An exhibition featuring modern farm machinery, irrigation systems and agricultural technologies was also organised to familiarise farmers with improved cultivation methods.

Extending his greetings to farmers and residents on Sharad Navratri, CM Dr Yadav praised the agricultural community in Dewas for adopting advanced techniques and experimenting with natural farming. He said the district was emerging as a model for agricultural development across Madhya Pradesh.

Referring to the region’s religious significance, the Chief Minister described the land of Dewas, associated with the revered Mata Chamunda and Mata Tulja Bhawani, as an important setting for an initiative dedicated to farmers’ welfare. He also credited the state’s firm decisions and divine blessings with helping free Madhya Pradesh from Naxalism.

Focus on Natural Farming and Modern Technology

The farmers’ fair aimed to promote agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, natural and organic farming, and the cultivation of millets under the Shree Anna initiative.

With the rabi season approaching, agricultural scientists provided technical guidance on certified varieties of wheat, gram, lentils and mustard that can deliver higher yields with relatively less water. The sessions were intended to help farmers make informed decisions about crop selection and improve productivity while managing water resources efficiently.

The exhibition at the mandi premises featured modern agricultural equipment, drip and sprinkler irrigation systems, and innovative farming solutions. Progressive farmers also shared their experiences of adopting sustainable agricultural practices and improving farm management.

Farmers Share Success Stories

Among those who spoke about their experiences was Dharmendra Singh Rajput from Chhoti Churlay village in Dewas block, who explained how combining natural and modern farming techniques could support model farming and increase income.

Pavitra Nagar from Kanoriya village discussed natural farming methods and their results. Narayan Singh Sendhav from Arniya Kala village in Sonkatch highlighted the management of horticultural crops through shade-net structures and polyhouses.

Laxminarayan from Polay Jagir explained how farmer-producer organisations could strengthen the marketing of agricultural produce, while Sangeeta Kushwah from Chobardhira village in Tonk Khurd shared practical lessons from implementing natural farming successfully.
