Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav on Friday reiterated his government's commitment to providing better healthcare services to every citizen, distributing free spectacles to schoolchildren and nutritional food baskets to tuberculosis (TB) patients during a visit to Harda district hospital on Friday.

The visit on October 9 was part of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, under which the Chief Minister reviewed healthcare facilities, interacted with patients and their families, and assessed the quality of treatment being provided at the hospital.

1,156 Children Identified with Vision Problems

During the programme, CM Dr Yadav distributed free spectacles to schoolchildren under the National Programme for Control of Blindness and Visual Impairment.

Among the beneficiaries were Shivani and Chhaya, Class XII students of a government girls' school, and Muskan, a student at a government excellence school.

According to district officials, eye examinations were conducted among 20,320 children across 135 schools in Harda. Vision defects were detected in 1,156 children, who are being provided with spectacles free of cost.

The initiative aims to identify vision problems among schoolchildren and ensure they receive timely assistance.

The Chief Minister also distributed food baskets to TB patients to support their nutritional needs during treatment. Each basket weighs approximately eight kilograms and contains protein- and carbohydrate-rich food items, including flour, peanuts, pulses and chickpeas. The beneficiaries included Rambai Dhurve and Usha Ginare from Jhiri village in Harda district, and Parsaram Lovanshi from Timarni.

Under the Ni-kshay Poshan Yojana, TB patients receive monthly nutritional assistance of ₹1,000 through direct benefit transfer (DBT).

District authorities have also intensified screening efforts to identify TB cases. Door-to-door screening has covered 186,332 people in high-risk villages and localities across Harda. Under the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, suspected cases are being identified using AI-enabled handheld X-ray machines and sputum tests. Voluntary organisations are also supporting patients by providing nutritional food baskets.
