Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav on Saturday launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him and his colleagues of attempting to create an atmosphere of anarchy rather than fulfilling their responsibilities as the Opposition.
Speaking to the media during his visit to Bihar on Saturday, CM Dr Yadav said political parties entrusted with a five-year mandate by the electorate deserved the opportunity to govern, while the Opposition should strengthen its organisation and reflect on why voters were moving away from it.
“If Rahul Gandhi and his colleagues attempt to create an atmosphere of anarchy instead, it is unacceptable. I condemn this,” the Chief Minister said.

CM Dr Yadav questions Congress’s stand on Election Commission
CM Dr Yadav urged the Congress to explain its opposition to the Election Commission, pointing out that the party governs Kerala. He said the Congress should reconsider its political positions if it had concerns about the electoral process.
Referring to political developments in Tamil Nadu, including the Congress’s shifting alignments involving the DMK and actor-politician Vijay, he said voters were closely watching the party’s decisions.
The Chief Minister also cited the Congress’s weakening position in Bihar, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh as reasons for serious introspection. He maintained that the party needed to examine its own political standing before questioning others.

India strengthening its economic position
Highlighting the country’s political stability, CM Dr Yadav said India had experienced a stable government under a single party’s leadership after a prolonged period of coalition politics.
He noted that Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi secured public support after being declared the prime ministerial candidate in 2014 and went on to become Prime Minister for a third consecutive term.
According to CM Dr Yadav, India is strengthening its position as an economic power and making progress across various sectors. He called on the Opposition to engage in meaningful discussions on these achievements and discharge its democratic responsibilities constructively.

CM Dr Yadav also highlighted the growth of religious tourism in Madhya Pradesh, crediting initiatives undertaken under PM Modi’s leadership. He cited the development of Mahakal Lok in Ujjain as a major milestone that had helped transform the state’s religious tourism landscape.
He said the government was working to improve the management of pilgrimage destinations and religious sites. Referring to places such as Varanasi, Ujjain and Somnath, he said religious destinations were witnessing renewed attention and improved management.
The Chief Minister also emphasised the importance of Buddhist heritage, describing Bodh Gaya as a significant centre of faith and saying his government was working to promote Buddhism.
Bihar and Madhya Pradesh share ancient ties
CM Dr Yadav described the historical relationship between Bihar and Madhya Pradesh as thousands of years old, referring to the ancient kingdoms of Magadha and Avanti and Emperor Ashoka’s association with Pataliputra and Ujjain.
He expressed hope that stronger ties between the two states would help boost religious tourism. He also referred to Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary’s leadership, stressing that temples and monasteries ultimately served devotees.
During his visit, CM Dr Yadav said he was offering prayers and performing ancestral rites on the banks of the Falgu river, underlining the shared religious traditions connecting the two states.
