Bollywood icon Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam: The Conclusion has marked its first successful week in theatres, registering an impressive box-office run. The film brings Vijay Salgaonkar’s gripping story closer to its intended end. However, the franchise’s fans hoping to watch the resourceful character for another instalment have good news to bask in the series’ glory, as lead actor Ajay Devgn has not completely ruled out the possibility of a fourth film.
Despite the third film of the franchise being titled ‘The Conclusion,’ the latest chapter has not put an end to the franchise’s future. In a recently conducted interview, Devgn clarified that the movie was conceived as the conclusion to the story, but acknowledged that predicting what lies ahead would be difficult in the current scenario.

Ajay Devgn says ‘Never say Never’
In an interaction with Gulf News, Devgn addressed speculation about a possible Drishyam 4, underlining that the current plan was to bring the story to a close with the latest release. He said, “At the moment, it is a conclusion. I can't predict it. Never say never. The decision was, this is the conclusion. The decision is right now that this is the conclusion. Right now.”
His remarks are being perceived to be leaving the possibility of another instalment open, although no official announcement has been made so far in this direction. For now, the stated intention of the makers remains to conclude the narrative with the current chapter.
The uncertainty is expected to keep fans scratching their heads about whether Vijay Salgaonkar’s story could eventually return to the silver screen.
Why did Drishyam 3 take time to materialise?

Further in the interview, Devgn revealed that producing the third Hindi Drishyam chapter was not part of the original plan. He added that the team explored the possibility and mulled different storylines, but the early attempts failed to carve a script they felt was right for the franchise.
After multiple rounds of discussions and creative efforts, the writers eventually managed to manufacture a story that convinced the team to move forward with the project. The Hindi franchise is a remake of the popular Malayalam films headlined by superstar Mohanlal. However, the latest instalment took a separate creative direction after the Hindi and Malayalam teams discussed their respective scripts. Devgn shed light on the fact that the teams initially considered their options together and later decided which version suited their intended audiences best.
He asserted, “We spoke to them (Malayalam team) and we were like, ‘Let's make it, we have a script.' And then they said that they're also working on something and they had a script. So we thought, let's hear each other out and decide what to do.”
He went on to say that the Malayalam team’s script was particularly suited to its own audience, while the Hindi team remained confident about its own version. He added, “Finally, we came to the conclusion that this is a fabulous script, but it is most suited for their audience. And we were very confident about our script. So then we decided that we will go ahead.”

As per Sacnilk, the third film of the franchise has minted Rs 312 crore in India so far, and Rs 95 crore from overseas markets, elevating its reported worldwide box-office total to Rs 407 crore.
While the strong reported earnings have added to the movie’s commercial momentum, the future of the franchise is in limbo at present. For audiences invested in Vijay Salgaonkar’s story, Devgn’s ‘never say never’ remark offers a possibility rather than a promise.
