Jamnagar, Gujarat: In a major action against liquor-related offences, Jamnagar Police destroyed 54,991 bottles of liquor and beer worth approximately ₹2.03 crore on October 23, 2026. The seized stock was crushed under a road roller on government land after the necessary legal procedures were completed.

54,991 Bottles Destroyed

According to officials, the destroyed stock included liquor and beer seized in various cases registered under Gujarat’s prohibition laws. The estimated value of the confiscated beverages stood at ₹2.03 crore.

The operation involved liquor seized by multiple police stations across the Jamnagar district. The authorities carried out the destruction after obtaining the required court order and approval from the local Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM).

Jamnagar Rural Deputy Superintendent of Police Piyush Vanda confirmed the quantity and estimated value of the destroyed stock.

Legal Procedure Followed Before Disposal

The destruction was carried out after the necessary permissions were obtained from the competent authorities. The procedure marked the disposal of confiscated liquor connected with the cases in which the stock had been seized.

Officials used a road roller to crush the bottles, ensuring that the seized stock was destroyed rather than returned to circulation.

The action forms part of enforcement measures against violations of the state’s prohibition laws.

Gujarat’s Prohibition Policy

Gujarat is a dry state where the manufacture, sale, storage and consumption of alcohol are generally prohibited under applicable law, subject to specific legal exceptions and permits.

The seizure and destruction of illegal liquor remain important aspects of enforcement in the state. Such operations involve confiscating stock linked to prohibition cases and disposing of it after the prescribed legal process.

The Jamnagar operation on October 23 highlights the scale of liquor seizures handled by the district police, with confiscated stock valued at more than ₹2 crore destroyed in a single disposal exercise.
