IPL 2026 KKR vs GT: A sublime knock from Gujarat Titans’ (GT) skipper Shubhman Gill guided the team to a hard-fought five-wicket victory over Black Jersey-donning Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash in Ahmedabad on Friday. Phillips falls in final over, KKR sense victory briefly

Despite Gill being dismissed in the 17th over, Kolkata sensed an opportunity for victory for a brief period. The tension escalated further when Glenn Phillips fell on the first ball of the final over. However, Rahul Tewatia and Shahrukh Khan held their nerve to see Gujarat home with two balls to spare. For KKR, Varun Chakravarthy was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets.

Earlier, Cameron Green staged a remarkable rescue act for KKR, producing a quickfire 79 off 55 balls to propel his side to a 180-all out. KKR landed in deep trouble early on, as they were reduced to 32/3 in four overs as Kagiso Rabada (3/29) and Mohammed Siraj (2/23) tore through the top order. Green steadied the innings with a 55-run stand alongside Rovman Powell (27), followed by smaller contributions from Anukul Roy. However, wickets continued to fall at the other end, preventing KKR from building sustained momentum.

Bizarre collapse dents KKR

KKR’s innings was marked by a lack of support for Green, who looked set for a century before falling on the final ball of the innings to Rashid Khan. The visitors’ batting collapse included a golden duck for skipper Ajinkya Rahane and a five-ball duck for Sunil Narine. Green also endured a moment of lapse in the final over, taking a single with just one wicket remaining. In the end, despite Green’s heroics, Gujarat Titans’ clinical chase ensured they walked away with two crucial points in a tightly-contested fixture.
