The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) marked its 101st Foundation Day with its annual Vijayadashami celebrations in Nagpur on October 20, 2026. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat performed the traditional Shastra Puja and addressed the gathering, highlighting national unity, social harmony and India's development.

Vijayadashami Event Held at Reshimbagh Ground
The RSS organised its annual Vijayadashami programme at Reshimbagh Ground in Nagpur, Maharashtra, as the organisation concluded its centenary-year celebrations and entered its 101st year.
The event featured traditional ceremonies, including Shastra Puja and floral tributes to RSS founder Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar. Swayamsevaks participated in the gathering, which remains one of the organisation's most significant annual events.

Mohan Bhagwat Delivers Keynote Address
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat delivered the keynote address, discussing India's social and political landscape, national unity and the role of citizens in strengthening the country.
He cautioned against protests that, in his view, encourage hatred towards national institutions, ideologies or individuals. Bhagwat also alleged that external forces were attempting to destabilise India by exploiting social divisions. These remarks reflected the organisation's position on current political developments.
Focus on Unity and National Development
Bhagwat emphasised the importance of social cohesion and an India-centred approach to development. He argued that changing governments alone does not necessarily resolve a country's problems and called for efforts focused on addressing underlying challenges.
The address also touched on India's economic progress, cultural identity and the need for citizens to contribute to the country's development.
Prominent Dignitaries Attend the Event
Several prominent personalities attended the celebrations, including Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. Sanjay Gupta, Editor-in-Chief of Dainik Jagran, was invited as the chief guest.
The Consul General of Israel in Mumbai was also among the invitees.
RSS Enters Its 101st Year
Founded by Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar in Nagpur in 1925, the RSS has held Vijayadashami celebrations annually since its establishment. The organisation describes its work as focused on national service, discipline and social development.
This year's programme marked the conclusion of its centenary celebrations and provided a platform for its leadership to outline its views on India's future, social harmony and national identity.
