Rahul Gandhi’s Vijayadashami message focused on the victory of truth and justice over injustice and arrogance, while his reported Vietnam trip drew criticism from the BJP amid ongoing opposition protests over electoral rolls.

Rahul Gandhi Shares Vijayadashami Message

Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, extended Vijayadashami greetings on October 20, 2026.

In his message, Gandhi wished for the victory of truth and justice over arrogance, injustice and oppression. He also expressed hope that the festival would bring happiness, peace and prosperity to people.

Although the message did not directly name Prime Minister Narendra Modi or the BJP government, its emphasis on justice and the defeat of injustice came amid ongoing political tensions between the Congress and the ruling party.

BJP Criticises Rahul Gandhi Over Vietnam Trip

The BJP criticised Gandhi after reports emerged that he had travelled to Vietnam for a short break.

The criticism came while opposition parties had been protesting against alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The BJP questioned Gandhi’s absence during a politically sensitive period and shared a video that it claimed showed him travelling abroad.

Congress Defends His Visit

The Congress defended Gandhi’s trip, arguing that he was entitled to personal time alongside his political responsibilities.

Party representatives also pushed back against the BJP’s criticism, keeping the dispute centred on political accountability, electoral issues and the role of the opposition.

Political Tensions Continue

The exchange highlights the continuing friction between the BJP and Congress over electoral processes and the opposition’s protests. While Gandhi’s festival message focused on truth and justice, the controversy surrounding his Vietnam trip has added another layer to the political debate.

The episode reflects how even a festival greeting can become part of a wider political exchange when relations between the ruling party and the opposition remain tense.
