A 23-year-old woman was allegedly beaten to death by her husband following an argument over her wish to visit her parental home in Anuppur district of Madhya Pradesh. The accused, identified as Sudama Agariya, 26, was arrested by police after the incident. According to police, he allegedly attacked his wife, Chanda Devi Kol, with a bamboo stick, causing fatal head injuries.
He reportedly remained beside her body overnight and later attempted to conceal bloodstains inside the house.

Frequent Arguments Over Visiting Her Parents
According to police, Chanda and Sudama had been in a relationship for around five years before they began living together and later married. The couple worked as daily-wage labourers. Police said the two frequently argued because Chanda would sometimes visit her parental home without informing her husband. Villagers had reportedly intervened on several occasions to settle their disputes, but the disagreements continued.
Argument Escalated Into a Fatal Attack
According to the police account, Sudama returned home on Wednesday evening, allegedly under the influence of alcohol. An argument broke out over Chanda’s wish to visit her parents.
As the dispute escalated, Sudama’s mother reportedly took the couple’s two young children to another house. During this time, Sudama allegedly attacked Chanda with a bamboo stick. She suffered severe injuries, particularly to her head, and died.
Allegedly Tried to Hide Bloodstains
Police said Sudama dragged his wife’s body into a room and slept beside it overnight. He reportedly realised she had died when he woke up on Thursday morning and noticed blood on her head and around the room. nHe allegedly tried to cover the bloodstains with cow dung plaster in an attempt to conceal the evidence.
Police Begin Further Investigation
According to Superintendent of Police Vikrant Murab, police reached the scene after receiving information on Thursday morning. The body was sent to the Community Health Centre in Kotma for a post-mortem examination. The accused has been arrested, and police are questioning him as part of the investigation. Further legal action will follow based on the findings of the investigation and post-mortem report.
