Accused claim to be linked to Bishnoi Gang
According to police, Shetty’s staff members received the threatening audio clip, in which the accused are heard to have links with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The Mumbai Crime Branch has mounted a probe and has forwarded the recording for forensic examination to ascertain its authenticity and identify the speaker.
Audio clip warns of direct attack
Police sources familiar with the probe said that the alleged audio message demands an extortion sum of Rs 20 crore and warns that the firing outside his residence in February 2026 was merely a trailer, and that a direct attack would be launched at him if the demands are not met.
An officer from the Mumbai Crime Branch said that Shetty’s staff raised an alarm with the police upon receipt of the audio message. On the basis of preliminary findings, the cops suspect that the voice in the recording could belong to one Shubham Lonkar. An FIR has been registered in this regard at the Juhu Police Station, while forensic experts are also analysing the clip as part of the probe.
