As the probe into Pune-based realtor Ketan Agarwal’s murder is deepening day by day, more fresh and disturbing revelations continue to emerge. In a fresh development on Sunday, the police personnel probing the case alleged that the accused duo; Ketan’s fiancee Siya Goyal and her lover, Chetan Chaudhary, meticulously planned the crime well in advance.

As per the findings of the probe, the duo allegedly researched methods online to kill Ketan, rehearsed the murder at the crime scene, and even prepared responses to possible police questioning in a bid to evade suspicion.

Officials in the know of the development said the accused duo had visited Lohagad Fort before the alleged murder to familiarise themselves with the location and rehearse the sequence of events. The cops believe the couple carefully studied the terrain and planned every aspect of the crime before its execution.

Cell phones of accused sent for forensic examination

Further during the investigation, it was learnt that Siya and Chetan allegedly erased their chat history and emptied their recycle bins both before and after the incident. Their cell phones have been seized by the cops and have been sent to a forensic lab to retrieve the deleted data, which shall prove fruitful in strengthening the prosecution’s case.

Police also suspect that the accused had planned to undergo a makeover during the course of the murder to avoid drawing attention. Case documents mention that they had prepared multiple contingency plans, including a “Plan C,” in case their original plot failed to materialise.

Previous attempt to kill Ketan had failed

According to investigating police personnel, Siya and Ketan had got engaged in February 2026 and were slated to tie the knot in November 2026. Police alleged that the accused duo first tried to kill Ketan on June 14 by pushing him off a cliff at Lohagad Fort. However, he managed to cling to a bush and survived. According to police, Siya then diverted his mind by shouting about sighting a snake before embracing him, thereby avoiding suspicion.

Days later, she allegedly persuaded Ketan to visit the fort again. This time, she was accompanied by Chetan. The pair then pushed Ketan from behind into a deep gorge, resulting in his death.

Crime scene recreation underway

On Saturday, police took both the accused to Lohagad Fort to recreate the sequence of events as part of the probe. Officials said the exercise is aimed at reconstructing the route taken by the trio, identify the positions occupied by the accused and verify the sequence of actions leading to the fall.

Meanwhile, Ketan’s family’s pursuit for justice is also on. During a candlelight march held in their housing society in Pune’s Gahunje area, his father, Vishal Agarwal, appealed to anyone who had visited the Lohagad Fort on June 18 to come forward and assist the probe.
