A few days after the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) withdrew its protest over the alleged NEET UG 2026 exam paper leak, Delhi Police on Wednesday issued notices to several users active on the social media platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), seeking information regarding posts shared during the demonstrations.
CJP-led protests at Jantar Mantar
As per sources, multiple people, besides several news portals, have been issued notices which remained active on social media throughout the protests. The police action came after some alleged posts, in which the users used abusive language against Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi and members of the security forces.
The cops have asked the recipients to furnish details linked to their social media accounts, along with information concerning the content currently under the police scanner. Among the ones who reportedly received notices is a woman whose posts allegedly contained offensive remarks directed at PM Modi.
Review of protest-related social media content leads to probe
Sources familiar with the development said the notices were issued after Delhi Police conducted an extensive review of content uploaded during and after the protests. Police officials scrutinised posts, videos and comments shared across multiple social media platforms to ascertain whether any material violated legal provisions or had the potential to disrupt the law-and-order situation.
Sources added that the scrutiny was part of a broader effort to identify content considered unlawful or capable of inciting unrest during the protests. Police said a probe into all such posts is underway, and officials are sifting through digital evidence gathered from various online platforms.
Platforms directed to take down offensive posts
Notably, two days prior to the issuance of the notices, Delhi Police had directed several social media platforms to remove posts and videos that allegedly contained offensive and abusive remarks targeting PM Modi.
The content in question was reportedly uploaded during the CJP-led protests at Jantar Mantar and the violence which ensued during the ‘Sansad Chalo’ march held on July 20, 2026. As per police, numerous posts containing expletives against PM Modi surfaced across several social media platforms in the thick of the protests and the unrest that followed in the national capital.

Authorities are now examining the origin and dissemination of such content as part of the probe. The police said further action against the ‘X’ users shall depend on the findings of the ongoing probe, and any legal measures taken will be based on evidence garnered during the probe into the social media activity linked to protests.
