Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka walked out of jail on October 21, bringing an end to their seven-day period in judicial custody. Soon after their release, CJP spokesperson Abhijeet Dipke shared a video welcoming the two men home, with the caption, “Welcome home boys.”

The video captured an emotional moment as Das and Ranka held the national flag and raised slogans, including “Bharat Mata Ki Jai,” “Inquilab Zindabad” and “Gyaanu Must Go.” The footage quickly drew attention for its combination of patriotic slogans and political messaging.

National Flag, Slogans and a Strong Message

In the video shared by Dipke, both Das and Ranka can be seen holding the Tricolour while chanting slogans following their release. Their chants included expressions of patriotism and a direct political slogan targeting Gyanesh Kumar, the Chief Election Commissioner.

The words “Gyaanu Must Go” stood out in the video, adding a political dimension to the moment. The slogan appeared alongside “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Inquilab Zindabad,” turning their first moments after leaving custody into a public statement.

Dipke’s caption, “Welcome home boys,” framed their release as a moment of reunion and relief after days in custody.

Seven Days in Custody

Das and Ranka had been in judicial custody since October 14 in connection with the Jantar Mantar protest case. Their detention followed developments surrounding the protests and the legal proceedings involving CJP representatives.

Their release on October 21 marked a significant development in the case, which had attracted attention over the handling of the protest and the continued detention of those involved.

The video shared after their release brought the focus back to the larger controversy surrounding the case. With the Tricolour in their hands and slogans ringing out, Das and Ranka’s return became more than just a reunion moment, carrying a message of defiance and renewed political opposition.
