Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav is set to bring urban transformation, investment and sustainable infrastructure into the spotlight at the Urban Conclave 2026, scheduled to be held at the Brilliant Convention Centre in Indore on 28 October.
The conclave aims to shape the future of the state's cities by promoting modern urban development models, digital governance, environmental protection, innovative technologies and investment opportunities. CM Dr Yadav is also expected to hold one-to-one meetings with investors to explore opportunities in urban infrastructure, proposed development projects and strategies for their effective implementation. Several projects will be inaugurated, launched or see their foundation stones laid during the event.
Tier-2 Cities and Smarter Urban Planning
A key focus of the conclave will be the planned development of Tier-2 cities. Discussions will cover urban density, Transit-Oriented Development (TOD), Transferable Development Rights (TDR), residential redevelopment, master plans, development corridors, RERA approvals, ease of doing business and Floor Area Ratio (FAR).
These measures are intended to encourage more efficient land use, improve housing facilities and strengthen urban transport systems as cities expand.
The discussions will also explore policy reforms and modern development models to make urban areas more investment-friendly, technology-driven and responsive to citizens' needs.
Treated Wastewater Reuse Takes Centre Stage

Water management and environmental sustainability will form another important part of the agenda. The conclave will discuss a vision for recycling treated wastewater to reduce dependence on natural freshwater sources and make water conservation an integral part of urban development.
Proposals will focus on encouraging the safe use of treated wastewater for industrial operations, construction, agricultural activities, gardening and other non-drinking purposes. The initiative aims to promote scientific water management while ensuring the wider reuse of treated water.
₹2,753 Crore Urban Challenge Fund Projects
The implementation of projects approved under the Urban Challenge Fund will also feature prominently. Discussions will examine physical progress, financial management and strategies to ensure timely execution.
The total approved cost of ongoing and proposed urban development works under the fund across Madhya Pradesh stands at ₹2,753.10 crore. The financial planning is expected to accelerate key projects in Indore, Ujjain and Rewa.

In Indore, the projects include strengthening the water supply distribution network and upgrading the sewerage network and treatment plants. In Ujjain, the ambitious Integrated Temple Area Development project aims to improve infrastructure in the religious and cultural city. Rewa, meanwhile, is set to benefit from an inclusive water supply scheme.
Agreements with financial institutions and banks will be signed for approved projects, while Letters of Award will be issued to the concerned agencies.
Start-ups and Young Entrepreneurs Invited
By bringing investors, start-ups and young people together, the conclave seeks to expand investment opportunities, encourage private-sector participation and accelerate infrastructure development across the state.
