The incident occurred in Sainikpuri after a dispute over tables placed outside a house during the distribution of religious food offerings. Police registered a case and sent the woman to judicial remand.

Dispute Erupts During Religious Food Distribution

A woman was arrested in Hyderabad after allegedly dumping fish-cleaning water and fish waste at a location where food offerings were being distributed during the Durga festival. The incident reportedly took place in the RK Puram area of Sainikpuri, Telangana, on October 15, 2026.

According to Neredmet police, women from the neighbourhood were distributing annaprasadam near a temple. Tables had been placed on the road outside the woman’s house, leading to an argument over the use of the space.

Woman Allegedly Throws Fish Waste

Police said the woman objected to the placement of the tables outside her residence and asked the organisers to move them. The women reportedly responded that they had been conducting the food distribution at the same location regularly.

An argument followed, after which the woman allegedly poured water used to clean fish, along with fish waste, from the first floor of her house onto the area where the food distribution was taking place. The incident prompted police action, with authorities investigating the circumstances surrounding the dispute.

Police Register Case Under BNS Sections

According to Neredmet police, a case was registered under Sections 196, 299, 351 and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

These provisions relate to promoting enmity between groups, deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings, criminal intimidation and intentional insult intended to provoke a breach of peace. The woman was subsequently arrested and sent to judicial remand, according to reports.

Investigation Underway

The incident has drawn attention because it involved a dispute at a religious food distribution site. However, the allegations against the woman remain subject to legal proceedings, and the registration of a police case does not establish guilt.

Authorities will investigate the circumstances of the incident and the allegations made by those involved.
