Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Arvind Limited's new garment manufacturing facility in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, on October 25, 2026. The plant aims to boost industrial growth in the Purvanchal region and create employment opportunities, particularly for local women.
The facility has been established in the Mirzamurad area of Varanasi, covering approximately seven to eight acres. The project involves an investment of around ₹150 crore and is expected to strengthen the region's garment manufacturing sector.

Around 1,000 Women to Get Job Opportunities
The new facility is expected to provide employment to around 1,000 women. More than 300 women have already been recruited and are undergoing training at the plant.
During his visit, Prime Minister Modi interacted with women workers and trainees to understand their work, experiences, and challenges. He also spoke with company officials about the manufacturing process and viewed an exhibition showcasing garments produced by the company.
Sportswear and Other Garments to Be Produced
The plant will manufacture sportswear, undergarments, and other apparel products. The facility will use modern manufacturing practices and aims to serve domestic and international markets.
The project is expected to strengthen the textile and apparel manufacturing ecosystem in eastern Uttar Pradesh. It may also help connect local production with global markets through the company's existing business network.

Boost to Industrial Development in Purvanchal
Arvind Limited's facility is a significant addition to the region's industrial infrastructure. By creating jobs and providing training opportunities, the project aims to support local livelihoods and improve employment prospects.
The plant also reflects efforts to promote women-led development and expand manufacturing activity beyond established industrial centres.
With further expansion planned, the facility could create additional employment opportunities in the coming years. The project is expected to contribute to Varanasi's economic growth and strengthen Uttar Pradesh's position as a destination for textile and garment manufacturing.
