The Lucknow Municipal Corporation has carried out a demolition drive targeting more than 200 lawyers' chambers allegedly built illegally in the Kaiserbagh court area.

The action followed an order from the Allahabad High Court, with police and Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) personnel deployed to maintain law and order during the operation.

The demolition drive has drawn attention to the issue of alleged encroachments in the court परिसर, while also raising concerns among lawyers affected by the action.

Demolition Drive After High Court Order

According to media reports, the municipal authorities began removing the identified structures following directions from the Allahabad High Court. More than 200 chambers were reportedly targeted, with one report putting the number at 245.

The operation was carried out under security arrangements to prevent any disturbance and ensure that the demolition proceeded without a major law-and-order problem.

Lawyers Protest Against the Action

The demolition has reportedly triggered protests from lawyers, some of whom claimed they had been using the chambers for around 15 to 20 years.

Those affected have raised concerns about the loss of their workplaces and called for alternative arrangements. The action has brought the concerns of the legal community into focus as authorities move to address alleged encroachments.

Police and PAC Deployed

A significant police presence, along with PAC personnel, was deployed at the site to manage the situation and prevent tensions from escalating. Security arrangements were made as the demolition work continued, given the sensitivity of the location and the objections raised by some lawyers.

Court Directions and Further Developments

The demolition drive highlights the continuing legal and administrative efforts to address alleged illegal construction and encroachment in public or regulated spaces.

The authorities' action follows court directions, while the concerns raised by affected lawyers remain part of the wider dispute. Further developments will depend on the implementation of the court's order and any subsequent legal proceedings.

The episode has renewed discussion about balancing enforcement of court orders with the concerns of people whose workplaces are affected by such actions.
