India on Friday strongly protested against the continued attacks by United States (US) naval forces on commercial vessels carrying Indian mariners in the Gulf of Oman, summoning US Chargé d'affaires Jason Meeks to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and expressing deep concern over the loss of civilian lives.

According to the MEA, the attacks have already claimed the lives of three Indian nationals, prompting New Delhi to register its strongest objections and demand immediate measures to prevent further casualties.

Indian Raises Serious Concerns

During the meeting held on June12, the Indian government conveyed its anger and concern over the repeated use of the force against civilian shipping. Officials described the deaths of the Indian mariners as tragic and avoidable and stressed that such incidents were unacceptable.

Indian urged the US diplomat to communicate its concerns directly to American authorities and ensure that U.S. forces operating in the area exercise greater caution to avoid any further loss of civilian life.

Diplomatic Message Sent to washington

By summoning the US Chargé d'affaires, India sent a clear diplomatic message regarding the seriousness with which it views the incidents. Such summons are considered a significant step in diplomatic practice and are often used to convey official displeasure over actions affecting bilateral interests.

The government requested Jason Meeks to ensure that India’s concerns are conveyed to the highest levels in Washington and the necessary precautions are taken by US forces to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
