Vijay divorce: At a time when Tamil actor-cum-politican Vijay’s personal life has drawn eyeballs owing to the divorce petition filed by his wife Sangeetha Sornalingam, the Tamizha Vettri Kazhagham (TVK) chief made a fresh public appearance with actress Trisha at a wedding reception in Chennai. A video of the Tamil film industry’s ‘Thalapathy’ arriving at the event along with Trisha went viral online. 

The actor was spotted in traditional attire, holding a bouquet. He was seen stepping out of a car, with Trisha following closely behind. The duo, who have shared screen space in numerous Tamil films, appeared magnificent and cheerful at the event.

The reception was held by Tamil film producer Kalapathi Suresh and Meenakshi in Chennai, after their son got married.   

Vijay’s spotted with Trisha amid reports of divorce with wife Sangeetha

For the unversed, the Tamil actor’s wife Sangeetha had filed a divorce petition at the Chengalpattu district court in Tamil Nadu on February 27, 2026. In her plea, Sangeetha cited infidelity, cruelty, neglect and desertion from the actor’s end. Sangeetha alleged that Vijay had been in an extra-marital relationship with an actress, and that Vijay had been emotionally withdrawn since 2021. She termed Vijay’s actions as ‘cruel’ and requested that the divorce proceedings be carried out on camera to shield her family from further distress.

Vijay had tied the knot with Sangeetha in 1998

Vijay got married to Sangeetha in the United Kingdom in 1998, and held a second ceremony as per Hindu rituals in India in 1999. They have two children named Jason Sanjay and Divya Saasha.

Social media buzz hovers around duo’s son Jason

Soon after the reports of the divorce petition emerged, fans ascertained that Jason Sanjay had not been following his father Vijay on Instagram. Screenshots of the same made rounds online, showing Jason following actor Vijay Sethupathi and several others, but not Vijay. Meanwhile, the final film of Vijay’s acting career, ‘Jana Nayagam’ has recently received clearance for theatrical release from the Madras High Court.
