WWE wrestler and Brahmastra actor Saurav Gurjar landed in a legal trouble on Sunday, after a woman, purportedly one of her acquaintances, filed a complaint against him, claiming that he persuaded her into returning to India from the US after assuring her that they would get married and start a business together.

As per media reports, the woman claimed she first met Gurjar on Instagram in 2021, following which the duo grew close. In her complaint, she said that Gurjar subsequently promised to marry her and that they lived together in the US as well as after her return to India.

The woman told the police that Gurjar convinced her to quit her job in the US and return to India, giving her an impression that they would jointly establish and head a business in the country. However, she alleged that Gurjar often used to block her phone number and distance himself from her whenever she approached him regarding their marriage plans.

Furthermore, she claimed that she and Gurjar stayed together between October 2025 and March 2026, before he allegedly vanished without informing her.

After the complaint was filed, Hyderabad’s Gachibowli Police registered a case and mounted a probe into the allegations. Media reports claimed that the cops detained Gurjar at the Mumbai Airport and took him to Hyderabad for further legal proceedings. He was thereafter sent to judicial custody.

The allegations remain subject to the ongoing probe, sources said.

Gurjar’s journey from Mahabharata to Brahmastra

Gurjar has gained critical acclaim for his work in both professional wrestling and acting. He played the role of an antagonist in Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra, which starred Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in lead roles. Moreover, he also essayed the role of Bheem in Siddharth Kumar Tewary’s television series Mahabharata, which aired in 2013-14.

Gurjar, a professional WWE wrestler, had earlier dreamt of pursuing wrestling since childhood. Around 14 years ago, he moved to Mumbai from his hometown in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior in pursuit of his ambitions.

Interestingly, Gurjar revealed in 2019 that he had signed contracts with both WWE and Brahmastra on the same day in 2018. He initially hesitated to take up the silver screen project as he laid his primary focus on wrestling.

However, he changed his mind after meeting director Ayan Mukerji and agreed to join the project. He later said that Mukerji explained how the film could eventually benefit his wrestling career. He added that WWE too had acknowledged that the film could help him build a wider market and profile.
