In a major development emerging on Wednesday, the three accused in the firing case associated with Tiger Shroff have been remanded in police custody until October 21, 2026. A court in Mumbai granted police a 10-day custody of the accused, as the cops are persevering in efforts to unearth the alleged conspiracy behind the incident.

The accused, according to officials, were produced before the Esplanade Court on Wednesday, by the Mumbai Crime branch’s anti-extortion cell. The cops sought further custody from the court to seize the weapons allegedly used in the firing incident, trace the financial trail linked to the case and identify other potential people who may have been involved.

The court gave nod to the police’s request, allowing the cops additional time to pursue crucial leads.

Cops seek weapons, digital evidence

During the hearing, the public prosecutor contended that further custodial interrogation was necessary to recover the firearms allegedly used in the attack. The police said they also wanted to examine the cell phones of the accused and establish whom they contacted before and after executing the crime.

The prosecution maintained that the probe was not just confined to three arrested accused, adding that the police are trying to ascertain whether additional people helped plan, finance or execute the alleged attack.

Defence opposes police custody

Opposing the prosecution’s demand, the lawyer representing the accused argued that the police had already seized five cell phones from the accused, which could provide important digital evidence for the probe.

He further submitted that the purpose of the transit remand had been fulfilled once the accused were brought to Mumbai from Kota, contending that this should not justify police custody. He continued by saying that the accused had already undergone approximately 16 hours of interrogation.

Adding to the claims, the defence submitted that five additional people had been arrested in connection with the case and urged the court to send the three men to judicial custody instead.

Accused held from Kota Railway Station

The accused trio had been arrested at Kota Railway Station on Monday, October 19, while travelling aboard the Pune-Jaipur Express. Post-arrest, they were produced before a court in Kota, which granted the Mumbai Police 48 hours of transit remand to escort them to Mumbai for further probe.

Subsequently, the case was transferred from Juhu Police to the Mumbai Crime branch, which is now helming the probe.

Probe centred on wider conspiracy

While the accused remain in police custody, the cops are likely to focus on establishing the alleged motive, identifying potential associates and determining whether the firing was part of a wider criminal conspiracy.

Area where Tiger Shroff was fired at

The weapons’ recovery, examination of digital communications and tracing of financial trails are expected to play a pivotal role in piecing together the sequence of events and the involvement of other persons.

The probe into the case is still in progress, and further details are likely to emerge as the Mumbai Crime Branch continues its interrogation.
