Bollywood actress Rakhi Sawant has responded to the non-bailable arrest warrant issued against her in a 16-year-old suicide case, sharing a video on Instagram in which she says she is currently in Dubai and denies having any connection with the case. In the caption accompanying the video, she wrote, “I am in Dubai enjoying my life and working hard.”
The Jhansi court issued the warrant on October 16, 2026, after Sawant reportedly failed to appear during court proceedings. The development concerns allegations linked to her former reality show, Rakhi Ka Insaaf.
What Did Rakhi Sawant Say in Her Video?
In the video, Sawant questioned the circumstances behind the case and denied responsibility for the incident. She maintained that she had no personal connection with the man involved and argued that she was only the host of the television programme.
She also questioned why the television channel responsible for airing the show was not being held accountable. According to her explanation, the programme was based on a particular concept, and she was performing her role as its host.
Reacting to the possibility of legal action, Sawant said she was prepared to face the consequences and made a statement about being willing to go to jail for the country. She also expressed confidence in the country’s legal system.
Her Instagram caption, meanwhile, presented a different side of her response, stating that she was in Dubai, enjoying her life and working hard.
What Is the 2010 Suicide Case?
The case dates back to 2010 and involves Laxman Ahirwar, a resident of Jhansi who appeared on Rakhi Ka Insaaf with his wife to discuss their marital dispute.
According to a complaint filed by his mother, Sawant allegedly used insulting language against him during the programme, including referring to him as “namard”. His family alleged that he was deeply distressed by the humiliation and subsequently died by suicide in November 2010.
A case was registered against Sawant and other members of the programme’s team, and a chargesheet was subsequently filed.
What Happens Next?
The court issued the non-bailable warrant after Sawant reportedly failed to appear for proceedings. Authorities have been directed to produce her before the court by December 1, 2026.
The matter remains before the court, and the allegations against Sawant have not been established as proven in a final judgment.
