Rajasthan Police has blocked around 15,000 mobile numbers allegedly linked to the circulation of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), in a major crackdown on the online distribution of illegal content involving children.

The action was taken after police identified a large number of mobile numbers associated with the circulation of such material. The move is part of efforts by law enforcement agencies to disrupt digital networks being used to share and distribute child sexual abuse content.

Thousands of Numbers Flagged

According to the report, police identified around 15,000 mobile numbers that were allegedly involved in activities connected with the circulation of CSAM. The numbers were subsequently blocked through the relevant process.

The action highlights the growing role of technology and digital surveillance in detecting online crimes. Investigating agencies are increasingly using digital tools to identify suspicious accounts, phone numbers and online networks involved in the distribution of illegal content.

Focus on Online Child Safety

The Rajasthan Police action comes amid increasing attention from Indian authorities towards child safety on digital platforms. Law enforcement agencies have been working with technology companies and telecom operators to identify and restrict the spread of CSAM.

The circulation, possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material are serious offences under Indian law. Authorities have also been stressing the need for social media platforms and other online services to act quickly when such material is detected.

Wider Crackdown on Digital Networks

The development comes as agencies across India step up efforts to tackle online child exploitation. Technology platforms and government agencies have been working on mechanisms to identify, report and remove such content and share relevant information with law enforcement.

The Rajasthan Police action also underlines the scale of the challenge faced by authorities in monitoring digital spaces where illegal material can be circulated rapidly.

Blocking suspected mobile numbers is one part of the larger enforcement process. Police investigations can also involve tracing the networks behind the numbers, identifying individuals involved and taking further legal action wherever evidence supports it.

The latest action reflects the increasing focus of Indian law enforcement agencies on using technology and coordinated measures to prevent the online circulation of material involving child sexual exploitation.
