Congress leader Jitu Patwari alleges that the BJP has failed to fulfil its election promise to Madhya Pradesh’s Ladli Behna beneficiaries and demands accountability from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Patwari Raises ‘Modi Guarantee’ Promise

Madhya Pradesh Congress president Jitu Patwari has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, raising questions over the BJP’s election promises concerning the state’s Ladli Behna scheme. Patwari said women beneficiaries were still waiting for the fulfilment of what the BJP had described as the “Modi Guarantee.”

Congress Leader Accuses BJP of Changing Its Promise

In his message, Patwari alleged that the BJP changed its chief minister after the elections but also changed its electoral promise. He further accused the BJP-led Madhya Pradesh government and its ministers of making misleading statements instead of providing clarity on the commitments made to women voters.

Addressing the Prime Minister directly, Patwari said the state’s Ladli Behna beneficiaries were demanding a clear and complete account of the unfulfilled promise. He urged Modi to address their concerns and ensure accountability for the commitments made during the election campaign.

₹3,000 Monthly Assistance Remains a Political Issue

The Ladli Behna scheme provides financial assistance to eligible women in Madhya Pradesh. The BJP had promised to increase the monthly assistance to ₹3,000, making the proposed hike a key point of political debate between the ruling party and the Congress.

Patwari’s latest message seeks to put pressure on the BJP’s central leadership over the timeline for fulfilling that commitment. His remarks also highlight the opposition’s effort to make women’s welfare promises a central issue in its criticism of the state government.

Patwari Tags PMO and BJP Madhya Pradesh

The Congress leader tagged the Prime Minister’s Office, Narendra Modi and the BJP’s Madhya Pradesh unit in his message, calling attention to the concerns of women beneficiaries. However, the statement did not include a response from the Prime Minister’s Office or the BJP to Patwari’s latest allegations.

Scheme Implementation Under Political Scrutiny

The exchange highlights the continuing political debate over the implementation of election promises, the timing of proposed increases in financial assistance and the expectations of women beneficiaries across Madhya Pradesh.

While the Congress is demanding accountability over the promised increase, the BJP’s response to Patwari’s latest message was not available in the statement shared.
