Rapper and singer Yo Yo Honey Singh has come under renewed scrutiny after being questioned by the Maharashtra Cyber Cell over allegedly objectionable remarks made during a concert in Delhi. The singer appeared before investigating officials on October 16, 2026, and was questioned for more than two hours. The latest development was reported by several media outlets on October 17.

How Did the Controversy Begin?

The controversy relates to remarks allegedly made by Honey Singh during a concert in Delhi in January 2026. A video clip from the performance went viral on social media, attracting criticism over his choice of words.

According to reports, a Mumbai resident subsequently filed a complaint with the Maharashtra Cyber Cell. Authorities registered a case and summoned the singer to record his statement as part of the investigation.

Repeated Summons and Latest Development

According to media reports, Honey Singh had failed to appear before investigators despite three earlier summons, citing his presence abroad. He was subsequently directed to appear on October 16.

The singer reportedly requested permission to appear on October 22 instead. However, authorities rejected the request and warned that proceedings to initiate a Look Out Circular could be considered if he failed to cooperate.

Honey Singh eventually appeared before the investigating team on October 16 and recorded his statement. Reports stated that he left the office after more than two hours of questioning. The case remains under investigation.

Singer Had Earlier Apologised

Following the online backlash, Honey Singh released a video apology. He explained that he had attempted to communicate a message about safe sex to younger audiences but acknowledged that his choice of words was inappropriate and offended people.

The latest controversy comes amid previous legal scrutiny over his song Volume 1. In April 2026, the Delhi High Court directed the removal of links to the track from online platforms after raising concerns about its content.

The Maharashtra Cyber Cell investigation into the concert remarks is ongoing. No final determination of the allegations has been reported.
