George Kutty experiences new kind of fear in the third instalment

Unlike Drishyam 1 and 2, where a father (Mohanlal) invests calculated efforts to shield his family from the fallout of a crime, the third film has a deeper psychological layer to offer.

Joseph revealed that the biggest shift lies in uncertainty. “George Kutty, in the first two parts, knew who was after him. This time, he doesn’t know if someone is watching him or who it might be.”

The ambiguous statements, also suggested in the trailer, place George Kutty in a state of constant anxiety, amplifying the suspense that defined the earlier films while adding a fresh dimension of paranoia.

Mohanlal teases 4th, 5th parts too

Adding to the buzz among fans, Mohanlal hinted that the story may not end with the third film. He reflected on the journey of his character in the film, remarking that George’s troubles appear far from over. He remarked, “I have asked for George Kutty to be saved multiple times, but he is still not saved,” suggesting that audiences could expect further instalments.

Furthermore, the Mollywood actor said that producer Antony Perumbavoor has already envisioned expanding the franchise.

Drishyam rides on success since inception

Notably, the Drishyam series has enjoyed stellar success since its inception, with both first and second parts emerging as pan-India hits, and inspiring remakes across several languages, including Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. The third instalment has retained its core cast, including Meena, Ansiba Hassan and Esther Anil, reprising their roles from the previous chapters.

Movie set to hit theatres on May 21

The film is slated to hit the theatres on May 21, 2026, and its trailer hints at an emotionally charged narrative, as George Kutty reels under lingering fears despite his family seemingly moving on.
