Veteran actor Nana Patekar was accorded a solemn farewell with full state honours in Pune on October 8, 2026. His mortal remains were wrapped in the national Tricolour before the final rites, drawing political leaders, public representatives and members of the film fraternity to pay their last respects.

The farewell ceremony was marked by an atmosphere of grief as people gathered to honour the actor and remember his contribution to Indian cinema.

Several prominent political figures attended the funeral to pay tribute to the veteran actor. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar, and Union Ministers Murlidhar Mohol and Ramdas Athawale were among those reported to have attended the ceremony.

Maharashtra ministers Chandrakant Patil and Madhuri Misal were also present. Their attendance reflected the widespread tributes paid to the actor following the news of his reported demise.

Jackie Shroff Among Film Industry Representatives

Actor Jackie Shroff was among the film industry personalities who attended the last rites. Nana Patekar, known for his powerful performances and distinctive acting style, has been a prominent figure in Indian cinema for decades.

His work across Hindi and Marathi films earned him recognition for portraying complex characters with intensity and realism.

Family Performs the Final Rites

Nana Patekar’s son, Malhar Patekar, performed the final rites, while his wife, Neelkanti Patekar, was also present during the farewell.

The ceremony reportedly included a ceremonial procession accompanied by a marching band, followed by the final rites at the family’s farmhouse in Donje village near Pune.

The farewell marked an emotional moment for those gathered to pay their respects. However, reports and social media posts circulating about the funeral should be checked carefully, as some videos falsely claimed to show Nana Patekar’s final journey.
