“Corridor to be built at a cost of Rs 3k crore”: CM Dr Yadav

CM Dr Yadav said that the corridor will be built at a cost of Rs 3,000 crore, and the project will improve connectivity between the two cities, which are also the two most important urban centres of the state. “At present, the journey between Indore and Ujjain takes around one hour and fifteen minutes. After the completion of the new corridor, the travel time will be reduced to nearly 30 minutes,” he added.

Continuing his statements, he said that faster connectivity between both the cities will accelerate regional economic growth, resulting in the benefit of industries, traders and farmers.

Region expected to gain national economic significance

The CM went on to say that the corridor will create new opportunities for the development of industrial zones, logistics parks and improved access to markets for farmers. He expressed hopes that the road will also enable the traders and industries to transport goods with increased efficacy.

He noted that the corridor would emerge as an important route connecting major industrial and commercial centres of the country, turning travel into an easy affair and faster for businesses. He said that with increased movement along the corridor, the Indore-Ujjain region is likely to gain national economic significance.

Route to prove fruitful during Simhastha in Ujjain

The Chief Minister opined that the corridor will prove to be fruitful during the Simhastha, slated to be organised in Ujjain in 2028. He further emphasised that farmers’ welfare remains the topmost priority of the state government, and the project’s route has been finalised after receiving suggestions from the farmers. Proper compensation has also been provided to them, he informed.

“The project reflects our commitment that the government delivers on what it promises. The Indore–Ujjain Greenfield Corridor will stand as a symbol of trust between farmers and the government,” he said.
