MP CM Dr Yadav launches HPV Vaccination drive in Jabalpur amid ‘Fit India Women Week’

MP CM in Jabalpur: As part of the ongoing ‘Fit India Women Week’, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav on Monday launched the HPV vaccination drive in Jabalpur, and stressed the importance of women’s health. He said that a healthy woman lays the foundation of a strong and an empowered society. Notably, the event was held during the ongoing National HPV Vaccination Campaign, as part of ‘Fit India Women Week 2026’ in the city. 

The event was organised at the city’s Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Cultural and Information Centre, where CM Dr Yadav distributed vaccination certificates to the girls who had received the HPV immunisation. Alongside this, he also inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for a number of development projects in the region.

Free HPV vaccination for girls under PM Modi’s leadership

CM Dr Yadav, while addressing the event, said that under Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi’s leadership, ensuring the health and well-being of the mothers and daughters remains among one of the topmost priorities of the government. He added that cervical cancer poses a major challenge for young women, and thus, the state has launched a large-scale vaccination campaign to shield MP’s women. “Girls aged above 14 years are being administered this vaccine free of cost. The vaccine, which costs around ₹4,000, will provide lifelong protection against cervical and uterine cancer,” the Chief Minister remarked. 

He then urged the families of the girls to ensure that their daughters receive the vaccination to avert the life-threatening ailment.

Development projects worth Rs 37 crore launched for Jabalpur

On the occasion, CM Dr Yadav also announced development works valued at Rs 37 crore for Jabalpur, which include the foundation laying of a modern Janpad Bhavan costing ₹10.51 crore and the inauguration of the newly constructed Geeta Bhavan worth ₹27.16 crore, along with other projects such as a primary health centre, 21 health and sub-health centres, and a solar traffic system.

The CM termed Jabalpur as a culturally rich city, which holds a distinct identity and extended his greetings to the citizens on the upcoming Navratri and Gudi Padwa festivals. 

CM interacts with students of Blind Girls’ school

During the programme, CM Dr Yadav presented symbolic vaccination certificates to girls Jiya Sen and Anshi Vishwakarma. Additionally, he also interacted with and felicitated students enrolled at the Blind Girls’ School in the city. He also presented commendation certificates to ‘Lakhpati Didis’ Aarti Chaudhary and Sita Gond. MLA Santosh Barkade, former minister Ajay Vishnoi, health officials, social workers, Anganwadis and health staff were in attendance at the event.
