Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav on Friday issued a strong appeal to the people of the state to actively participate in the government's campaign against substance abuse, warning that addiction is capable of destroying not only individuals but also entire families and future generations.
In a message released on July 10, the Chief Minister called upon citizens to extend wholehearted support to the 'Nasha Mukt Madhya Pradesh' (Drug-Free Madhya Pradesh) campaign, describing it as a people's movement crucial to safeguarding the state's social and economic future.

“Drugs pose a threat to the society”: CM Dr Yadav
CM Dr Yadav said Madhya Pradesh was progressing rapidly across multiple sectors, with the state's youth playing a vital role in its development journey. However, he cautioned that the growing menace of drug abuse posed a serious threat to this progress by undermining the creativity, productivity and aspirations of young people.
"The tendency towards substance abuse strikes at the very foundation of society's development. Addiction destroys creativity, limits opportunities for progress and ruins both the present and the future," he added.
Government intensifies statewide fight against substance abuse
The Chief Minister said the Madhya Pradesh Government had launched a comprehensive campaign to curb all forms of substance abuse and was working in line with the vision of Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi and under the leadership of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah.
He stressed that the battle against narcotics required collective participation, adding that governments alone could not eliminate the menace without active public support.

"Drug abuse is the root cause of destruction. It devastates individuals, tears families apart and jeopardises the future of coming generations. The state government has mobilised all its resources and capabilities to wage a decisive battle against addiction with the cooperation of the people," CM Dr Yadav said.
He reiterated the state's commitment to fulfilling PM Modi's vision of a 'Nasha Mukt Bharat' (Drug-Free India) and supporting the national target set by Union Home Minister Amit Shah to make India completely drug-free by 2029.
Public participation key to success, says CM
Drawing parallels with the state's success in combating Left-Wing Extremism, CM Dr Yadav expressed confidence that Madhya Pradesh would achieve similar success in its campaign against drugs through sustained public participation.
"The state government has successfully overcome major challenges such as Naxalism. With the support of the people, we are confident of winning this fight against drug abuse as well," he said.
Invoking the blessings of Lord Mahakal, the Chief Minister expressed optimism that Madhya Pradesh would emerge as a drug-free state through collective determination and community involvement.

The state’s top political leader also appealed to citizens, particularly young people, to actively participate in the 'Nashe Se Doori Hai Zaroori 2.0' campaign being organised by the Madhya Pradesh Police from July 15 to July 30, 2026.
He said public awareness and community engagement would be instrumental in ensuring the campaign's success and protecting future generations from the harmful effects of addiction, reinforcing the government's resolve to build a healthier, safer and drug-free Madhya Pradesh.
