Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav reiterates the state government’s commitment to protecting OBC interests as it files a Special Leave Petition challenging the Madhya Pradesh High Court’s October 9 judgment on OBC reservation.

CM Mohan Yadav Meets OBC Mahasabha Delegations

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to protecting the interests of Other Backward Classes (OBCs), following a meeting with delegations of the OBC Mahasabha at Samatva Bhavan, his official residence, on Friday morning.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister said the state government considered OBC reservation a matter of utmost importance and was working towards a fair and legally sustainable resolution.

State Files Special Leave Petition in Supreme Court

Acting on the Chief Minister’s directions, the Office of the Advocate General, Madhya Pradesh, filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court on October 16, 2026.

The petition was filed in the case State of Madhya Pradesh vs. Ashita Dubey and Others, following a detailed examination of the Madhya Pradesh High Court’s October 9 judgment concerning OBC reservation.

The state government aims to present its position before the Supreme Court and seek a resolution that protects the interests of OBC candidates while addressing the legal issues raised by the High Court’s decision.

Government Says Its Stand on OBC Reservation Is Clear

Dr. Yadav said the government had convened an all-party meeting and consulted OBC organisations before presenting its arguments before the High Court.

He emphasised that the government was working towards resolving the matter rather than delaying it. He also directed officials to examine the High Court judgment point by point and ensure that the state’s case was strongly presented before the Supreme Court.

OBC Mahasabha Delegations Submit Memorandums

During the meeting, representatives of the OBC Mahasabha submitted memorandums highlighting their concerns over the High Court’s October 9 judgment on 27% OBC reservation in Madhya Pradesh.

The delegations sought a constitutional solution based on updated data and measures to safeguard the interests of OBC candidates. The Delhi delegation presented its views under the leadership of Advocate Vaibhav Singh and Engineer Mahendra Singh Lodhi.

The Gwalior delegation was led by Mahasabha founder Vijay Kumar, state in-charge Jitu Lodhi and state president Giriraj Dhakad.

Focus Remains on Legal Resolution

The filing of the SLP marks the state government’s next legal step in the ongoing OBC reservation matter. The issue is expected to proceed through the judicial process as the state presents its arguments before the Supreme Court.

The government has reiterated that it remains committed to protecting OBC interests and pursuing a legally sustainable resolution to the reservation dispute.
