Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav on Thursday announced development projects worth ₹30.86 crore for Kalapipal in Madhya Pradesh’s Shajapur district, inaugurating and laying foundation stones for multiple public infrastructure works. During his visit, the Chief Minister also reiterated his government's commitment to introducing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the state, stating that efforts would be made to implement it within the current month.

MP CM Dr Mohan Yadav addressing the event

CM Dr Yadav inaugurated the Kisan Samriddhi Sankalp Sammelan and the 'Hara-Bhara Kalapipal' plantation campaign by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Earlier, he received a grand welcome during a roadshow through Kalapipal, where residents showered flower petals on his convoy. He also announced new roads and a railway overbridge for Shajapur district.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister described Kalapipal as a blessed region enriched by the rivers Nevaj, Lakundar, Chillar and Parvati. He praised Shajapur's natural beauty and agricultural strength, calling it a district that "produces gold" through the hard work of its farmers.

“Government committed to farmers' prosperity,” says CM

Emphasising the government's pro-farmer agenda, Dr Yadav said the event was not merely about inaugurations but reflected the state's commitment to agricultural prosperity. He announced that farmers would now receive one-year agricultural loans, ending the previous six-month interest-related complications.

He credited Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi's leadership for transforming the country and highlighted welfare initiatives, including the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, as examples of sustained support for farmers.

The Chief Minister also claimed that 118 villages in Shajapur are already receiving Narmada water, despite the river not flowing through the district, and assured that the remaining villages would also be covered in the future.

Claims BJP transformed irrigation and rural infrastructure

A still from the event

Launching a sharp attack on the Congress, CM Dr Yadav alleged that previous governments failed to expand irrigation despite Madhya Pradesh being home to more than 250 rivers. He claimed that the state's irrigated area had increased from approximately 7.5 lakh hectares before 2003 to 44 lakh hectares under BJP governments.

He further asserted that wheat procurement prices had risen significantly, with farmers currently selling wheat at ₹2,625 per quintal, contrasting it with what he described as limited price increases during Congress rule.

The Chief Minister also highlighted improvements in rural electricity infrastructure, stating that separate power supply systems for villages and agricultural fields had ensured better access to electricity. He announced that farmers would soon receive daytime power for irrigation during the upcoming wheat and gram cultivation season.

Inter-state water projects and women's welfare highlighted

The state’s top political leader said long-standing water-sharing disputes had been resolved under PM Modi's leadership through projects such as the Parvati-Kalisindh project, which he said would benefit 15 districts in Rajasthan and 13 districts in Madhya Pradesh, with 90 per cent of the project cost being borne by the Centre.

He also referred to the Ken-Betwa river project with Uttar Pradesh, saying it would significantly improve water availability across Bundelkhand and reduce migration caused by water scarcity.

Highlighting the state's flagship women's welfare initiative, the Chief Minister said nearly ₹60,000 crore had already been transferred into the bank accounts of women beneficiaries under government schemes. He accused the Congress of mocking such initiatives and urged women to remember these remarks during elections.

CM renews pledge to implement UCC

Reiterating his government's stand on legal reforms, CM Dr Yadav said there should not be different personal laws for different communities and stressed that "one nation, one law" was essential to uphold equality and the dignity of women, including Muslim women.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the government's employment initiatives, stating that delayed sub-inspector recruitment had resumed, promotions had been granted, and investment worth ₹10 lakh crore had been secured in the state.

He further informed farmers that a PepsiCo processing plant was coming up near the region and encouraged them to diversify into potato cultivation, saying the company would procure their produce.
