Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav on Friday reviewed the preparations for the state's proposed Agriculture Year programmes during a high-level meeting held at the Mantralaya, underscoring the government's commitment to making farming more modern, sustainable and profitable for farmers.

The meeting focused on the roadmap for a series of initiatives planned under the Agriculture Year campaign, the current status of preparations and strategies for their effective implementation across the state. Senior officials briefed the Chief Minister on the proposed calendar of events and district-level action plans aimed at ensuring widespread participation by farmers.

A still from the meeting

CM Dr Yadav directed officials to ensure that every programme organised under the Agriculture Year initiative helps connect farmers with modern agricultural technologies, newly launched government schemes and improved farming practices. He emphasised that the campaign should serve as a platform for equipping cultivators with practical knowledge that can enhance productivity and strengthen their livelihoods.

Farmers to receive access to modern agricultural knowledge

During the meeting, senior officials from the Agriculture Department informed the Chief Minister that a range of activities would be organised across Madhya Pradesh throughout the Agriculture Year. These include farmers' conferences, agricultural fairs, training camps, technical workshops and public awareness campaigns.

The programmes will focus on disseminating information about advanced seed varieties, modern farm machinery, natural farming, organic cultivation, water conservation techniques and crop diversification. Officials said the campaign is designed to ensure that farmers gain access to the latest agricultural practices and government support systems, enabling them to make informed decisions and improve farm productivity.
