A suspected member of the banned Bangladesh-based militant organisation Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), lodged in Bhopal Central Jail, has reportedly tested positive for HIV. Five JMB suspects are now expected to undergo HIV testing at AIIMS Bhopal, according to the information provided.

Suspect Hospitalised After Health Deteriorates

A suspected JMB operative lodged in Bhopal Central Jail was reportedly shifted to AIIMS Bhopal after his health deteriorated.

According to the information received, the inmate was initially taken to a community health centre in Lalghati after experiencing health problems inside the jail. Medical examinations reportedly revealed that he was suffering from anaemia, or a low haemoglobin level.

However, sources have claimed that the inmate is also HIV-positive. His HIV status has not been independently confirmed in the information available.

Five JMB Suspects to Undergo HIV Testing

Following the reported development, five suspects allegedly linked to JMB are expected to undergo HIV testing at AIIMS Bhopal.

The proposed tests have raised questions about the health status of the other inmates and whether any additional cases could be detected. However, there is currently no confirmed information indicating that other suspects have tested positive.

Suspect Reportedly Arrested in Deoband

The inmate is reportedly a native of Bangladesh. According to the information provided, security agencies had arrested him in Deoband, Uttar Pradesh, over alleged links with the banned organisation.

He was subsequently lodged in Bhopal Central Jail, where he reportedly developed health complications.

Questions Raised Over Infection, Medical Screening

The reported HIV case has prompted questions about when and how the inmate acquired the infection and whether other prisoners require medical screening.

However, an HIV-positive diagnosis alone does not establish when or how a person acquired the infection. The reported case also does not establish that the infection originated inside the jail or that other inmates are infected.

Official Confirmation Awaited

The reported HIV status and the proposed testing of five suspects require confirmation from the relevant medical authorities and prison administration. The immediate priority remains appropriate medical care, confidential handling of health information and medically guided testing for those concerned.
