Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav on Wednesday inaugurated the fourth new manufacturing unit of Godrej Consumer Products Limited at the Malanpur industrial area in Bhind district, marking a major expansion of the company’s presence in the region.

The company has invested more than ₹450 crore in the new unit, which is expected to create employment opportunities for hundreds of people. With the expansion, Malanpur is now home to what the company describes as Asia’s largest soap manufacturing facility.
4,000 soaps every minute
Addressing the gathering, CM Dr Yadav said the new facility was evidence that investment commitments were being translated into projects on the ground rather than remaining limited to memoranda of understanding.
The Chief Minister said the new plant would manufacture 4,000 soaps every minute, adding that mosquito-repellent products such as Goodknight would also be supplied nationwide from Bhind.
“Today, this Chambal land is fertile, sustainable and earning,” CM Dr Yadav said, highlighting the region’s transformation from its troubled past. He added that the new unit was the third major industrial project to come up in Madhya Pradesh in less than two months.

CM Dr Yadav said projects worth ₹1,500 crore in Guna and ₹3,500 crore in Shivpuri had already been established. He claimed that more than ₹10 lakh crore of investment was taking shape across the state, with several factories having already begun production.
He also said Madhya Pradesh’s foreign exports had risen to ₹76,000 crore, stressing that the state was reaching global markets despite being landlocked.
Chambal emerges as an industrial hub
CM Dr Yadav said the Gwalior-Chambal region was steadily building a new identity centred on investment, industry and employment. A major telecom manufacturing unit is also proposed in Gwalior through a Telecom Manufacturing Zone.
He expressed hope that the Godrej Group would soon establish its fifth unit in Malanpur and urged the company to launch local skill-development programmes for residents of Bhind.
The Chief Minister also said the next Global Investors Summit would be held in January 2027 and Prime Minister Narendra Modi would inaugurate it.

Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar said the industrial development of Malanpur reflected the fulfilment of the Prime Minister’s ‘Make in India’ vision. Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Prahlad Patel said the expansion would create employment opportunities for local residents.
Godrej eyes malaria-free Madhya Pradesh
Godrej Consumer Products Executive Chairperson Nisaba Godrej said the company’s relationship with Malanpur dates back 35 years, when her father, Adi Godrej, established a soap manufacturing unit there in 1991.
She said Godrej No. 1 soap, manufactured at Malanpur, had grown into one of the country’s leading brands. She also highlighted measures to improve workplace safety, accommodation and other facilities for women employees, including opportunities to work night shifts.
Nisaba Godrej said the company was ready to work with the Madhya Pradesh government towards making the state malaria-free by 2030, noting that its mosquito-control products had contributed to efforts to curb vector-borne diseases.

Godrej Consumer Products MD and CEO Asif Malbari described the inauguration as a historic moment for Malanpur. He said the company’s manufacturing operations currently span around 70 acres, with total investment at the site reaching approximately ₹850 crore.
According to Malbari, Godrej’s total soap manufacturing capacity currently stands at 2 lakh tonnes. With the latest expansion, the company expects to become the largest soap manufacturer in Asia.
