A fire broke out in a 13 storey residential building in Mumbai’s Kurla West early Tuesday morning, triggering panic among residents. Nine people, including three children, were injured in the incident. According to municipal officials, the fire was reported at around 6:53 am at Kohinoor HDIL Building Number 5.

Fire Breaks Out in Electrical Duct

According to officials, the fire originated in the electrical duct of the residential building. Flames spread through the electrical wiring and duct, raising concerns about the safety of residents inside the building.

The incident prompted an immediate response from the Mumbai Fire Brigade, which rushed to the spot to control the situation. Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control by 7:21 am, approximately 28 minutes after it was reported.

Thick Smoke Leaves Residents Struggling to Breathe

Although the fire was brought under control quickly, thick smoke filled parts of the building, creating difficulties for residents. Municipal officials said eight people experienced breathing problems due to smoke inhalation and required medical attention.

Another person sustained an injury to the right leg during the incident. The injured individuals were immediately shifted to Rajawadi Hospital for treatment.

Three Children Among the Injured

Among the nine injured people were a five year old boy and two teenage girls. The incident raised concerns about the risks posed by fires in high rise residential buildings, particularly when smoke spreads through internal ducts and affects multiple floors.

Hospital authorities reported that all the injured individuals were in stable condition. Medical teams attended to the patients following their admission.

Fire Brought Under Control Within 28 Minutes

The quick response by the fire brigade helped bring the situation under control before the blaze could spread further. However, the incident once again highlighted the dangers associated with electrical fires in residential buildings.

Further details regarding the exact cause of the fire were not immediately available. Authorities responded to the emergency and ensured that the injured residents received medical assistance.
