Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was admitted to Jupiter Hospital in the state’s Thane on Saturday after he experienced mild fever, body ache and fatigue, as per sources. The veteran Shiv Sena leader is undergoing routine medical tests at present, and remains under observation, with doctors closely monitoring his health.

Sources familiar with the development said that Shinde had been feeling unwell since Friday. As a precautionary measure, his doctors advised him to undergo a comprehensive medical evaluation.

He was subsequently admitted to the hospital, where a team led by specialists is conducting routine investigations to determine the cause of his symptoms. Sources confirmed that the Dy CM’s condition is stable and there is no immediate cause for concern. A detailed update is likely to emerge once the ongoing medical assessment is over.

Doctors carry out routine investigations

Hospital sources said Shinde is undergoing standard diagnostic tests to unearth the reason behind the fever and fatigue. No official medical bulletin has, however, been released by the hospital until the report was filed.

Senior Shiv Sena leaders and government officials are in regular contact with doctors and hospital authorities to stay updated with Shinde’s health. Party functionaries said Shinde is responding well to the treatment and is likely to be discharged soon, post which he is expected to return to his official responsibilities, subject to medical advice.

Shinde’s hectic public schedule in recent weeks

Shinde’s hospitalisation comes against the backdrop of several weeks of an intensive political and administrative schedule. He had actively been attending government meetings, public functions and party programmes across Maharashtra as one of the principal leaders of the ruling Mahayuti alliance.

His demanding calendar has seen him travel extensively across the state, participating in a slew of official programmes, events and political engagements.

Similar health concern came to fore in 2024

Notably, this is not the first time Shinde has been admitted to Jupiter Hospital regarding similar-health concerns. In December 2024, he was hospitalised after experiencing fever, weakness and a throat infection following an exhaustive election campaign and a packed schedule of political engagements.
