MP Cabinet meeting: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav on Wednesday chaired the Cabinet meeting, which gave nod to the establishment of shelter homes for the families of patients at the medical colleges and district hospitals across the state.
Major relief kicks in for patient’s attendants

The proposed shelter homes will offer pocket-friendly lodging and food facilities for the kin of the patients. The initiative also aims to extend to under-construction medical colleges in MP, ensuring uniform implementation across future healthcare infrastructure. Officials present in the meeting underscored that many attendants struggle to find affordable accommodation near hospitals, often leading to distress in times of medical emergencies.
MP Cabinet meeting: Social organisations to extend help towards shelter homes
Officials said that in a first in MP, these shelter homes will be developed with the participation of social organisations. The state government will provide land, while the organisations will monitor the construction, maintenance and provision of essential services like electricity and water. The scheme, as per officials, will be rolled out in a phased manner, beginning with 20 operational government medical colleges.
Government authorities said that the participating social organisations will operate on a not-for-profit basis, and focus shall be laid on social service, rather than commercial gains. The patients’ families will be charged a nominal fee to ensure sustainability.
Healthcare infrastructure gets a major boost
Further in the meeting, the Cabinet okayed the plan to invest as much as Rs 2,000 crore over the next five years to ramp up medical facilities, including the laying of cath labs and organ transplant units in all medical colleges of the state. Additionally, proposals worth Rs 33,000 crore were sanctioned for various construction projects.

In a major relief for rural landowners, the government has decided to implement Factor-2, ensuring up to four times compensation for farmers in cases of land acquisition in rural areas.
Irrigation project cleared for Ujjain
Furthermore, the Cabinet approved an irrigation project in Ujjain at an outlay of Rs 157 crore, which will expect as many as 35 villages. It also approved Rs 128 crore for rehabilitation efforts in Chhindwara.
It was unanimously decided in the meeting that Rs 990 crore will be spent over five years to distribute bicycles to students of Grade 6 and 9, while Rs 1200 crore has been allocated for the development of teacher training institutions.
CM care scheme to be continued
Towards the end of the meeting, the Cabinet also approved the continuation of the CM Care Scheme 2026 worth Rs 3,628 crore over five years. A special session will also be organised under the ‘Nari Shakti Vadan’ initiative to promote women’s empowerment.
