The bodies of both the girls were found lying on the floor of the bedroom, and a blood-stained knife was found near the corpses. The cops noted that the bed appeared untouched. According to forensic experts, the minor girls may have been smothered before their throats were slit.

During this, the accused father sat beside the bodies, and did not resist arrest. The police came to know that the victims, both students of Grade 5, lived in the flat with their parents and a younger brother. Wife remains unaware about double murder until police arrive

The wife of the accused told police that prior to the incident, everything appeared entirely routine. After the family had dinner together, the man took both the girls to his room and spent a long time on the phone.

Later, she went to sleep along with her son in another room of the house, and remained unaware of the crime. She claimed she learnt about the killings only when the cops knocked on the house’s door.

Mental health angle under police’s scanner

The man’s motive behind the double-murder has still not been established, but investigators are exploring a possible link to mental health woes. Sources said the accused showed signs of emotional instability after his mother passed away a few months ago. A police team also recovered a huge number of mental health pills from his room, after which they are also examining whether the girls were given sedatives before being murdered. The accused’s wife demanded that he be hanged till death at the earliest.
