MP CM Dr Yadav launches helipad service from Bhopal to Orchha

MP helipad service: Madhya Pradesh on Sunday embraced a significant step towards ramping up its tourism sector, as state Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav inaugurated a new heli-tourism route connecting state capital Bhopal to Chanderi and Orchcha. The inauguration ceremony took place at the State Hangar in Bhopal under the ‘PM Shri Heli Tourism Service,’ and is aimed at improving accessibility to some of the state’s revered and historic destinations.

CM Dr Yadav flagged off the initiative by distributing boarding passes to passengers, marking the commencement of operations on the new route.

Enhancing religious tourism the goal of the initiative

Speaking at the launch event, CM Dr Yadav underlined that the key objective of the initiative is to simplify travel to prominent religious and tourist destinations located in the state. He maintained that improved connectivity would encourage more tourists to explore the state’s rich cultural heritage and sacred sites. 

Notably, the initiative was launched on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Lord Parshuram, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. CM Dr Yadav termed the event a matter of pride for the state. He further said that the heli-tourism service would not only provide convenience to pilgrims, but will also provide a substantial boost to the tourism industry. 

MP helipad service: Fare from Bhopal to Orchcha

Under the newly launched service, the passengers desiring to travel to Orchcha from Bhopal via helipad will be required to pay a fare of Rs 6500. Meanwhile, the Chanderi-bound passengers will need to pay a sum of Rs 5,000. The service is being operated under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, and places strong emphasis on the safety of passengers. Modern helicopters boasting a sound seating capacity of six passengers are being deployed for the pilgrimage. 

The service will operate five days a week; Wednesday through Sunday, offering regular connectivity for pilgrims and tourists alike. It is noteworthy that the PM Shri Heli Tourism Service was launched on November 1, 2025, coinciding with the Madhya Pradesh Sthapana Diwas (Foundation Day). The addition of this new sector has marked another milestone in Madhya Pradesh’s ongoing efforts to modernise its tourism infrastructure.
