Women’s empowerment bill: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav on Saturday tore into the Congress after a crucial bill linked to women’s empowerment failed to secure passage in the Parliament on Friday. He described the development as ‘deeply unfortunate’ and reflective of an ‘anti-women mindset.’

CM posts message on ‘X’
The Chief Minister took to his official ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) handle, questioning the intent of the Congress. He alleged that the party’s indifference towards issues pertaining to women’s rights and dignity had been laid bare. His remarks have added a fresh political dimension to the ongoing debate surrounding the stalled legislation.
CM Dr Yadav said that blocking such a significant bill raises serious concerns about the commitment of political parties towards the empowerment of women. A statement issued on his ‘X’ post read, “The Congress party’s anti-women mentality has been exposed yet again. Preventing the passage of such an important bill related to women’s empowerment is highly condemnable and unfortunate.”
“Women’s welfare should rise above partisan politics”

Furthermore, CM Dr Yadav asserted that the incident underscores a lack of sensitivity towards the rights, respect and empowerment of women across the country. He maintained that matters concerning women’s welfare should rise above partisan politics and must also be treated with the seriousness they deserve.
His statement further read, “This development reflects insensitivity towards the rights and dignity of the nation’s mothers and sisters,” underlining that political maneuvering on issues like these is highly inappropriate.
He then issued a veiled warning to political opponents, remarking that the general public is closely observing the actions of all parties involved, and expressed confidence that the voters would respond decisively at the right time. He added, “The people are watching everything, and when the time comes, they will certainly give a befitting reply.”
