Swiggy voice-enabled ordering: Food delivery platform Swiggy said on Wednesday it has inked a strategic partnership with Sarvam to introduce multi-lingual, voice-led commerce across India for customers, a move which aims to redefine digital accessibility. The collaboration aims to allow users to order food, vegetables, groceries and other items by means of conversational interactions in their preferred language. Additionally, the feature will also facilitate the users placing reservations for restaurants, according to the platform.

App to bridge India’s language divide
It is noteworthy that India’s linguistic diversity has long posed a challenge for digital platforms, many of which remain limited to English or a few regional languages. Swiggy said that the partnership has been designed to address this gap by leveraging Sarvam’s sovereign Artificial Intelligence (AI) models, built specifically for India’s complex language ecosystem.
According to the company’s officials, the feature enables an end-to-end ordering journey, from discovery to payment, within a single voice interaction, thereby eliminating the need to download or operate an app interface.
Swiggy voice-enabled ordering: System supported by Razorpay
Notably, Swiggy has emerged as the first commerce platform to integrate with Indus, Sarvam’s conversational AI application. The system is also supported by Razorpay, which powers the payment infrastructure, ensuring smooth and secure transactions at the final stage. Sarvam’s voice models are trained on extensive Indian language datasets, and currently support 11 Indian languages including Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Bengali.

Industry leaders underline ‘India-first’ innovation
Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Swiggy, Madhusudhan Rao underlined the importance of accessibility, saying that true digital inclusion lies in meeting users in the languages they are most comfortable with. Sarvam’s co-founder Pratyush Kumar also echoed the vision, describing India as a ‘voice-first nation.’ He added that the next wave of AI adoption will be driven by users interacting in their native languages.
With the initiative, Swiggy has positioned itself at the forefront of conversational commerce, catering to millions of users across India’s diverse linguistic landscape.
